| Long Title: | AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 21 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES. |
| Synopsis: | This Bill addresses a several areas in the motor vehicles statute regarding who can “sponsor” a foster child who wishes to obtain a driver’s license. The Bill also addresses the issue of liability for the “sponsor” should they sign. First the Bill clarifies the current statute to specifically allow a Division of Family Services case worker or foster parent to sign for a foster child to obtain a driver’s license in Delaware. Second, the Bill specifically exempts a Division of Family Services caseworker or foster parent who sponsors a foster child or loans a vehicle to such foster child from liability should that foster child cause damages resulting from the foster child’s negligence.
