Purpose of the Bill : This Bill implements a requirement of the Federal Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of 2005. The DRA mandates that states have laws in place to require that, as a condition of conducting business in the State, all health insurers provide eligibility and coverage information to the State Medicaid Agency, when the State requests such information. This information exchange will guarantee that third party insurance coverage is exhausted before Medicaid pays for a service for Medicaid recipients who also have third party coverage.
