Purpose of the Bill : Rep. Valihura stated that the issues addressed by the bill had been brought to him by members of the Justice of the Peace Court System (JP). The bill attempts to address landlord and tenant codes, specifically with regards to the definition of a tenant.
Committee Findings: Mr. Ed Davis, Justice of the Peace of Sussex County, argued that there is no provision describing how to move forward in disputes involving payment defaults on behalf of tenants. He added that the bill provides tools to the JP courts on how to resolve such issues.
