Purpose of the Bill : This Bill allows the hunting and trapping of red fox in accordance with regulations to be promulgated by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control under the state’s Administrative Procedures Act and also allows the hides of red fox harvested legally to be sold in Delaware and other states. Large populations of red fox throughout the State are having a significant negative impact on small animal species including waterfowl, rabbit, quail and shorebirds.

Committee Findings: The Committee found that this bill will give DNREC the authority to establish a season for red fox hunting since many complaints have come in due to the overpopulation of red fox.
