Purpose of the Bill : To revise the definitions of “real estate appraiser” and “appraisal;” enable enforcement of penalties for unlicensed practice of real estate appraisal; and changes the configuration of the Council on Real Estate Appraisers.
Committee Findings: James Collins, Director of the Division of Professional Regulations, spoke in support of the bill. He said that it gives more flexibility in appointing members to the Council and fixes a problem of definitions that has prevented the state from taking action against unlicensed practitioners. No major concerns were expressed about the bill.
