Purpose of the Bill : Provides MediGap insurance to individuals over the age of 65. The bill would change the eligibility to those under the age of 65. The bill would also extend MediGap coverage to more individuals.
Committee Findings: Rep. Plant stated that there is additional funding available through the American Kidney Foundation’s Grant Program. Chairwoman Stone indicated to Rep. Plant that she would feel more confident in the merits of the bill if it was reviewed by the House Finance Department. Rep. Valihura echoed Chairwoman Stone's concerns and added that the committee does not have sufficient information on the funding aspect of the bill and that the committee does not have an idea of the impact of similar pieces of legislation on other states.
