| CoSponsors: | Reps. Spence, Cathcart, Booth, Hastings, Hocker, Lavelle, Lofink, D. Short |
| Introduced on : | 04/02/2008 | |
| Long Title: | AN ACT PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE DELAWARE CONSTITUTION OF 1897, AS AMENDED, RELATED TO THE AUDITOR OF ACCOUNTS. |
| Synopsis: | This Bill changes the name of the Office of Auditor of Accounts to the Office of Auditor General. The current name is antiquated and dates back to the days when the Auditor approved the payments for all State Government. The new name (Auditor General) better reflects the true functions the office currently performs: financial/compliance audits, performance audits and investigatory audits and financial reviews. This is the first leg to amend the Delaware Constitution. Upon passage by the second session of the General Assembly, a companion bill will be introduced to change the name of the Office of Auditor of Accounts to Office of Auditor General wherever it appears in the Delaware Code.
