HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

HOUSE BILL NO. 61

AMEND House Bill No. 61 on line 3 by deleting the word “ Veterans ” and inserting in lieu thereof “ Infantry Badge Holders ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 61 on line 5 by deleting the “ combat veteran ” and inserting in lieu thereof the phrase “ Combat Infantry Badge ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 61 on line 6 by deleting the phrase “ combat veteran ” and inserting in lieu thereof the phrase “ Combat Infantry Badge holder ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 61 by inserting after line 6 the following and renumbering accordingly:

“ (b).   Special registration may be issued by the Department under this section if the United States Department of Defense certifies that the applicant is a Combat Infantry Badge holder . The Division shall issue the plate once the required number of applications is received.”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 61 by deleting lines 16 and 17 and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

“ (e) The Department shall reserve sufficient special license plates including the prefix CIB and numbered consecutively beginning with the numeral “1” as are necessary to implement this section.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 61 after line 24 by inserting the following:

“ (g) All registration plates issued pursuant to this section shall be the colors and design as determined by the Department in conjunction with representatives from the Commission Office of Veterans Services. The Division of Motor Vehicles shall have the power to refuse any design which it believes would cause a public safety enforcement problem.

(h) The Division of Motor Vehicles may promulgate rules and regulations as required to administer this section. ”.

SYNOPSIS

This amendment makes technical corrections to the bill.
