SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 305

AMEND Senate Bill No. 305 by deleting line 6 in its entirety and redesignating accordingly.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 305 on line 11 by deleting “ free, full-day early ” as it appears therein and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “ free early ”.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 305 after line 21 and before line 22 by inserting the following and redesignating accordingly:

“ (2) The Department may identify priorities when awarding contracts, including programs offering at least 6 hours per day of early childhood educational services. ”.

SYNOPSIS

To provide flexibility for the Department of Education (Department) to expand access to free, high quality early childhood educational services, this Amendment removes the requirement that the Department provide early childhood educational services that are full day in favor of allowing the Department to identify priorities for which programs to provide, including the consideration of the number of hours per day a program offers.
