SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 272

AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 by deleting lines 82 and 83 in their entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

“Telehealth” means the application of telecommunication, audio-visual, or other technology that meets the applicable standard of care to deliver audiology or speech-language pathology services at a distance for assessment, intervention and/or consultation.

  FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 on line 87 by deleting “ in each member state ”, and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

  in each member state where the licensee obtains such a privilege

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 on line 186 by deleting “.” and adding the following:

, and the privilege to practice in any member state is deactivated in accordance with the rules promulgated by the Commission.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 by adding after line 207 the following:

A licensee providing audiology or speech-language pathology services in a remote state under the compact privilege shall function within the laws and regulations of the state where the patient/client is located.

  FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 by deleting line 233 in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 by deleting the “ . ” at the end of line 287 and inserting the following after

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 by inserting the following after line 312:

(20) The Commission shall have no authority to change or modify the laws of the member states

which define the practice of audiology and speech-language pathology in the respective states.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 on line 313 by inserting after “Commission” the following:

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 on line 337 by adding the following after “ Commission ” and before “ .

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 on line 359 by adding the following after “ minutes. ” and before “ All ”:

All minutes and documents of meetings other than closed meetings shall be made available to members of the public upon request at the requesting person’s expense.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 272 by deleting line 459 in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

All hearings shall be recorded. A copy of the recording shall be made available to any person upon on request and at the requesting person’s expense.

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment clarifies that all meetings of the Executive Committee shall be open to the public, and that all minutes and documents of meetings of the Commission, other than closed meetings, and recordings of Commission hearings on proposed rules or amendments, are available to members of the public upon request and at the requesting person's expense.

This Amendment also makes several other non-substantive, clarifying changes to the bill.
