HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

149th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 18

RECOGNIZING APRIL 3-8, 2017 AS "AUCTIONEERS WEEK" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE.

WHEREAS, the National Auctioneers Association is celebrating National Auctioneers Week from April 3-8; and

WHEREAS, the State of Delaware recognizes the rich history of auctioneers in the State and the country; and

WHEREAS, auctioneering is one of the country’s oldest professions; and

WHEREAS, auctions are the last bastion of the competitive free enterprise system; and

WHEREAS, auctions continue to be the most fair, transparent, and effective means of establishing fair market value; and

WHEREAS, the auctions of real and personal property historically have been an important and influential marketing tool in the State of Delaware; and

WHEREAS, auctioneers are professionals who ensure that auctions are conducted in a fair manner to both buyers and sellers; and

WHEREAS, the National Auctioneers Association and its members strive to advance the auction method of marketing and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in serving the American public; and

WHEREAS, the designation of Auctioneers Week by the State of Delaware will heighten public awareness to the historical and economic contributions made by auctions and auctioneers statewide;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 149th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that that we hereby proclaim April 3-8, 2017, as Auctioneers Week in the State of Delaware and call upon the community and partner organizations to celebrate with appropriate ceremonies to acknowledge these efforts.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution recognizes the week of April 3-8, 2017 as Auctioneers Week in the State of Delaware, acknowledging the great economic impact and rich history auctioneers have on the State.
