HOUSE BILL NO. 214

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 19 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING FOR STATE EMPLOYEES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend Chapter 13, Section 1311A, Title 19 of the Delaware Code by making insertions as shown by underlining and deletions as shown by strike through as follows:

§ 1311A. Collective bargaining in the state service.

(b) For purposes of bargaining pursuant to this section, employees shall be classified in the following bargaining units, each of which shall independently bargain compensation:

(11) Correctional supervisors and non-uniformed correctional employees which is composed of correctional lieutenants, staff lieutenants, correctional captains , non-uniformed correctional employees and similar occupations;

SYNOPSIS

This bill amends merit compensation bargaining unit by allowing non-uniformed correctional employees, including correctional counselors, correctional administrative staff and similar occupations, to bargain over compensation. These correctional employees are presently the only correctional employees excluded from compensation bargaining.
