WHEREAS, the State of Delaware moves to recognize and dedicate Route 202 to our Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Families who have lost an immediate family member in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, by the ultimate sacrifice of men and women who have honorably given their lives in service to and protection of the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, have demonstrated that freedom is neither free or devoid of consequence; and
WHEREAS, have helped secure by their courageous actions security and freedom for those they knew, and had yet to meet; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the relatives of these brave members of the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, who have borne unparalleled sacrifice in giving up their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, Route 202 with the power vested in the General Assembly be dedicated to the families of our fallen members of the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, whose loss is unforgettable; and
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 149th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of
Representatives concurring therein, that 13 miles of Route 202 between the Pennsylvania/Delaware border and Route 202/Concord Avenue transition be hereby dedicated to Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Families to honor their sacrifice in losing loved ones, America’s finest, its fallen warriors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that two signs be constructed at the Pennsylvania/Delaware border and Route 202/Concord Avenue transition to make visible the service to and dedication of our Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Families to this Nation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Route 202 be designated, “Gold Star Highway Honoring Families of Fallen Service Members”
