HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 53

EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE ADULT USE CANNABIS TASK FORCE.

WHEREAS, the Adult Use Cannabis Task Force (“Task Force”) was established under House Concurrent Resolution No. 52 of the 149 th General Assembly to study the experiences of the states that have previously taxed and regulated cannabis for adults age 21 and older, and to consider how legislation ending prohibition of adult use cannabis in Delaware might best address the experiences of other states; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force was directed to issue a final report to the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, with copies to all members of the General Assembly; the Governor; the Director and the Librarian of the Division of Research of Legislative Council; and the Delaware Public Archives by January 31, 2018; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force has held monthly meetings beginning in September 2017; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force has used these meetings to receive testimony from all interested stakeholders; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force has worked diligently on its study, but is not yet prepared to submit its report.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives and the Senate of the 149th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, that the date by which the final report of the Adult Use Cannabis Task Force is due be extended to February 28, 2018.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution extends the due date of the final report of the Adult Use Cannabis Task Force from January 31, 2018, to February 28, 2018.
