149th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 18

RECOGNIZING DAVID LYONS FOR HIS NOMINATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

WHEREAS, David Lyons was a faithful and dedicated servant to the State of Delaware by dedicating countless hours and direction to those in need; and

WHEREAS, David Lyons provided continued professional leadership, guidance, devoted service and outstanding contributions to his local community as Commissioner, President Pro Tem, and the Mayor of Henlopen Acres; and

WHEREAS, David Lyons served with distinction with various organizations throughout the State of Delaware by providing financial support and by promoting volunteerism among his many organizations and activities; and

WHERAS, David Lyons worked directly with the University of Delaware and The Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship to create the annual Economic Forecast as a way to educate business leaders and members of the community on the status of our economy and address salient economic matters; and

WHEREAS, David Lyons was a champion for those in need and raised money for countless organizations, including the dental surgery program at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and people in need to provide opportunities otherwise not available; and  

WHEREAS, David Lyons’ hard work and dedication was most recently recognized by way of a nomination to become a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Delaware; and

WHEREAS, on April 17, 2018, David Lyons unexpectedly departed this life before he could be confirmed by the Delaware State Senate to the Board of Trustees.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 149 ^th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, that David Lyons is hereby recognized for his nomination to the Board of Trustees of the University of Delaware.
