149th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19

HONORING THE 2017-2018 ST. ELIZABETH VIKINGS BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2018 D.I.A.A. STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the St. Elizabeth High School Vikings Boys Varsity Basketball Team won the 2018 Delaware State Basketball Championship; and

WHEREAS, in achieving this great accomplishment, the team has earned an enviable place in the history of the school by bringing home the first D.I.A.A. Boys State Championship Title in the history of St. Elizabeth High School; and

WHEREAS, on March 10, 2018, the Vikings defeated Smyrna High School, the defending State champions, by a score of 60 to 49 to win the championship; and

WHEREAS, the team members include: Jordan Brown, Herman Jones, Michael Crippen, Nathan Thomas, Sean Gmuca, Kendrick Segars, Justin Money, Sean Hutchinson, Jaden Dickerson, Nasir Brown, Ryan Hockenbrock, and Guy DeBonaventura; and

WHEREAS, the team coaching staff includes: Matthew Rubincam, Varsity Head Coach; Mike Cassiday, Assistant Coach; Tom Nagle, Volunteer Coach; and Dashaun Brooks, Syndi Hopes, Demi Rubicam and Jaeger Wesley, Managers ; and

WHEREAS, the 2017–2018 Vikings team won this great accomplishment through hard work, cooperation, and determination; and

WHEREAS, while there may be other St. Elizabeth Viking basketball teams who will win State championships in the future, there will never be another first time;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 149th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that the members do hereby extend warm congratulations and best wishes to the team members and staff of the 2017-2018 St. Elizabeth Vikings Varsity Basketball Team and congratulate them on their first-ever victory in the Delaware State Basketball Championship.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members do hereby extend the hope that the Vikings team members and staff will achieve equal success in their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be presented to the Vikings team members and staff upon their visit to the Delaware State Senate on this 24 ^th Day of April, 2018.
