149th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 4

RECOGNIZING THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE'S CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING AND ANALYSIS AS THE OFFICIAL REPOSITORY OF HISTORICAL AND REAL-TIME WEATHER AND CLIMATOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS FOR THE STATE OF DELAWARE.

WHEREAS, a statewide environmental monitoring network for Delaware known as the Delaware Environmental Observing System has been in operation since 2003 ; and

WHEREAS, federal and state funding has been provided for the establishment and continued operation of the Delaware Environmental Observing System for emergency management, water resources, transportation, and agriculture needs in the state of Delaware; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Environmental Observing System is operated by the University of Delaware’s Center for Environmental Monitoring and Analysis; and

WHEREAS, the University of Delaware’s Center for Environmental Monitoring and Analysis provides data and services to the State of Delaware through partnerships with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Delaware Emergency Management Agency, Delaware Department of Transportation, and Delaware Department of Agriculture; and

WHEREAS, the University of Delaware’s Center for Environmental Monitoring and Analysis is under the direction of the State Climatologist at the University of Delaware.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the 149th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, with the approval of the Governor, that the University of Delaware’s Center for Environmental Monitoring and Analysis is hereby recognized as the official repository of historical and real-time weather and climatological observations for the state of Delaware.

SYNOPSIS

This Joint Resolution recognizes the university of Delaware's center for environmental monitoring and analysis as the official repository of historical and real-time weather and climatological observations for the state of Delaware.
