SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 117

AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 by deleting lines 4 through 6 in their entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:

The Delaware Department of Education shall designate any school, including a district or charter school, as a Purple Star School if the school applies and qualifies for the designation under this section.

(a) To qualify as a Purple Star School, a school must:

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 on line 11 by deleting “ campus ” and substituting in lieu thereof “ school .”

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 on line 12 by deleting “ campus ” and substituting in lieu thereof “ school .”

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 on line 28 by deleting “ campus ” and substituting in lieu thereof “ school .”

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 by adding the following after line 28:

d. Other incentives as identified through the Department of Education’s rules and regulations.

SYNOPSIS

This amendment changes the terminology in the bill from “campus” to “school” and makes it explicit that the bill applies to district and charter schools.
