In accordance with 29
Del. C. §913, the following information is provided relating to House Bill 146.
Description
of the Legislation
This
Act will establish a new, one-time fee of no more than $100 for all applicants
for an educator’s first license in Delaware, whether that license be an
initial, continuing or advanced license. This Act is effective upon enactment
and all revenue generated from the licensure fee will be deposited to the
General Fund.
Affected
Entities
Applicants
who are new to teaching in Delaware as well as the Department of Education, the
entity overseeing the educator licensure process.
Fiscal
Impact Estimate
Based
on information provided by the Department of Education, over the last five
years, the average number of new applicants for licensure and certification is
approximately 1,500.
Assuming
1,500 applicants for licensure and certification annually, and a fee of $100,
the projected annual revenue related to this Act is $150,000.
Intended
use of Revenue
This
Act requires all revenue from educator licensure to be deposited into the
General Fund, which will support the overall operations of the State of
Delaware.
