140th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.

 

HONORING DELAWARE NATIVE JAMIE NATALIE FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND THE SHINING EXAMPLE HE HAS SET FOR OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE.

WHEREAS, Jamie Natalie is a Delaware native and a graduate of Alexis I. du Pont High School; and

WHEREAS, the 20-year-old former Hockessin resident has been training as a gymnast since the age of five; and

WHEREAS, through hard work and natural born ability Mr. Natalie has become one of this nationís most promising young gymnasts; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie has been called the finest gymnast the First State has produced in more than 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie has earned honors for his gymnastic prowess and his sterling work ethic; and

WHEREAS, although Mr. Natalie often competes as an individual he has been an integral component to the success of the teams to which he has belonged; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie currently attends Ohio State University (OSU) and was a major contributor to OSUís second place finish in the NCAA Gymnastic Championships earlier this year; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie is a member of the U.S. National Team and will be one of only five collegiate gymnasts representing this country in the World University Games in Spain next month; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie is considered a bright prospect to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team that will compete in the 2000 Olympic Games; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie carries his determination and quest for excellence into the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie was named an Academic All-American as a freshman at Ohio State University where he is majoring in exercise science; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Natalie intends to continue his academic studies to pursue a career in medicine.

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 140th General Assembly hereby honors Jamie Natalie for his commitment to athletic and academic excellence.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Jamie Natalie is well representing the First State through his exemplary conduct.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at a time when our youths need role models to inspire them Jamie Natalie has provided a wonderful example of what can be achieved when hard work and diligence are used to fully realize oneís potential.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitably prepared copy of this resolution be presented to Jamie Natalie in care of his father James A. Natalie, Jr., 720 Lora Lane, Hockessin, DE 19707.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution honors Jamie Natalie for his selection to the U. S. National Team that will represent our country in the World University Games in Spain next month and commends him for the excellent example he sets for young people.
