AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF A STATE HISTORICAL AIRCRAFT.

WHEREAS, the Bellanca Cruisair is a single-engine light aircraft manufactured from the mid-1930’s onward; and

WHEREAS, the Bellanca Cruisair is an important part of Delaware aviation history; and

WHEREAS, the Bellanca Cruisair was built from 1939 to the early 1950’s at Bellanca Airfield, an airfield built in 1928 by Henry B. DuPont and Guiseppe Bellanca that is located in New Castle, Delaware; and

WHEREAS, more than 600 Bellanca Cruisers were built in Delaware and the aircraft was the most sought after aircraft of its type during this period; and

WHEREAS, the Bellanca Airfield is the home of the Bellanca Airfield museum; and

WHEREAS, the Air Service, Inc. Hangar at Bellanca Airfield in New Castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; and

WHEREAS, many volunteers spend time and effort keeping Delaware’s aviation history alive, including members of The Friends of Bellanca, the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame (DAHF), Delaware Aviation Support, Inc. (DASi), and the Delaware Aviation Advisory Council (DAAC) at the Department of Transportation;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend § 329 by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§ 329 State historical aircraft.

The Bellanca Cruisair is the official historical aircraft of Delaware.
