HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

HOUSE BILL NO. 14

AMEND House Bill No. 14 on line 32 by inserting “ or trotline ” after “pot” and before “license.”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 14 after line 62 and before line 63 by inserting the following:

(d) Commercial trotlines are limited to a maximum of 3 anchored long lines totaling no more than 3,600 feet.

(e) It shall be unlawful for any person who places, uses, or sets a crab trotline to harvest crabs from the trotline by any means other than hand dip netting. ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 14 by deleting lines 76 and 77 in their entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

(2) It shall be unlawful for any person to place, use, or set a crab trotline in the tidal waters of this State between the hours of one hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise. ”.

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment does the following:

(1) Limits the use of commercial trotlines to a maximum of 3 anchored long lines totaling no more than 3,600 feet;

(2) Prohibits trotline users from using commercial or recreational auto dippers for harvesting; and

(3) Clarifies that trotlines may not be used between the hours of one hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise.
