FOR

SENATE BILL NO. 269

AMEND House Amendment No. 1 to Senate Substitute No. 1 for Senate Bill No. 269 by deleting lines 22 and 23 in their entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

“Section 13. Sections 9 and 10 of this Act apply to a dog that is declared dangerous or potentially dangerous by the Justice of the Peace Court or by voluntary acceptance by the owner on or after the effective date of this Act.”

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment provides that Sections 9 and 10 of the Act, pertaining to dogs declared dangerous or potentially dangerous by the Justice of the Peace Court or by voluntary acceptance by the owner, apply only to dogs designated as dangerous or potentially dangerous on or after the effective date of the Act.

This differs from House Amendment No. 1 to Senate Substitute No. 1 for Senate Bill No. 269 in that House Amendment No. 1 linked the effective date of Sections 9 and 10 to the filing of an action in the Justice of the Peace Court.
