HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 29

RECOGNIZING MARCH 8, 2023 AS “NATIONAL WOMEN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS DAY”.

WHEREAS, because female professionals, leaders, and small business owners play a vital role in the economy of Delaware, when Delaware empowers women, it empowers the entire economy; and

WHEREAS, women small business owners are key job creators and employers that are building a legacy for the next generation of businesswomen; and

WHEREAS,  according to the 2019 Annual Business Survey conducted by the Census Bureau, women-owned small businesses in the United States employed more than 10,000,000 workers and accumulated $1,800,000,000,000 in receipts; and

WHEREAS, according to the 2021 Small Business Profile prepared by the United States Small Business Administration, women made up 49.4 percent of small business workers in Delaware and women owned 41.9 percent of small businesses in Delaware; and

WHEREAS, National Women-Owned Small Business day takes place on March 8 th and recognizes the critical contributions of women entrepreneurs and small business owners of the United States; and

WHEREAS, women-owned small businesses should be celebrated for their accomplishments and contributions to the State of Delaware.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 152nd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the General Assembly hereby designate March 8, 2023, as “National Women-Owned Small Business Day” in the State of Delaware.

SYNOPSIS

This Concurrent Resolution recognizes March 8, 2023, as "National Women-Owned Small Business Day" in Delaware.
