SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 52

AMEND Senate Bill No. 52 on lines 22 to 23 by deleting " Provide needles and syringes on an as-needed basis, whereby a participant receives sterile needles and syringes based on need and usage." as it appears therein and inserting in lieu thereof " Provide needles and syringes on an as-needed basis, whereby a participant receives sterile needles and syringes based on need and usage. Provide for a 2 for 1 exchange, whereby participants shall receive 2 sterile needle and syringe units in exchange for 1 used needle and syringe unit. A participant shall be provided no more than 10 sterile needle and syringe units per visit. ".

SYNOPSIS

This amendment changes the "1 for 1" exchange limitations to a "2 for 1" exchange limitation. This amendment also caps the number of units that a participant may receive to 10 per visit.
