SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 66

AMEND Senate Bill No. 66 by deleting on line 25 “ 4 as it appears therein and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “ 2 ”.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 66 by deleting on lines 27 and 28 “ A physician who is board-certified in emergency medicine and licensed to practice in this State. State, to be appointed by the Governor, for a term of 4 years. ” as it appears therein and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “ A physician who is board-certified in emergency medicine and licensed to practice in this State. [Repealed]. ”.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 66 after line 30 and before line 31 by interesting the following

(17) A physician who is board certified in infectious disease and licensed to practice in this State, to be appointed by the Governor, for a term of 2 years.

(18) A representative from a major Delaware hospital system, to be appointed by the Governor from a slate of nominees to be provided by the Delaware Healthcare Association, for a term of 2 years. ”.

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment does the following:

(1) Changes the term length from 4 years to 2 years for the Delaware medical community representative and the physician members of the Public Health Emergency Planning Commission (Commission). This change was made to have the term length coincide with the biennial review of the public health emergency plan.

(2) Adds a physician who is board certified in infectious disease as a member of the Commission in place of an emergency medicine physician.
