SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 117

AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 after line 5 and before line 6 by inserting the following:

“ (14) “Handler” means the police officer who is the handler of a police dog receiving emergency medical services under this chapter. ”.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 on line 9 by deleting “§ 9815” and inserting in lieu thereof “Chapter 98” therein.

FURTHER AMEND Senate Bill No. 117 on line 16 by inserting “ The handler, if available, must be present during the provision of emergency medical services and transport to the veterinary facility. ” after the period therein.

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment clarifies that an injured police dog’s handler must be present, if available, while the dog is being provided medical treatment and during transport to a veterinary facility, defines “handler”, and makes a technical correction.
