HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

HOUSE BILL NO. 273

AMEND House Bill No. 273 by inserting the following after line 7 and before line 8 and redesignating accordingly:

(3) “Expressive language disorder” means a specific developmental disorder in which the child’s production of language is below the appropriate level for their mental age.

(4) “Mixed receptive-expressive language disorder” means a specific developmental disorder in which the child’s understanding and use of language is below the appropriate level for their mental age. ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 273 on line 14 by deleting “ phonological disorder or receptive language disorder ” and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “ expressive language disorder, mixed receptive-expressive language disorder, phonological disorder, or receptive language disorder. ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No.273 by inserting the following after line 33 and before line 34 and redesignating accordingly:

(3) “Expressive language disorder means a specific developmental disorder in which the child’s production of language is below the appropriate level for their mental age.

(4) “Mixed receptive-expressive language disorder” means a specific developmental disorder in which the child’s understanding and use of language is below the appropriate level for their mental age. ”.

FURTHER AMEND House Bill No. 273 on line 40 by deleting “ phonological disorder or receptive language disorder ” and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “ expressive language disorder, mixed receptive-expressive language disorder, phonological disorder, or receptive language disorder. ”.

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment adds expressive language disorder and mixed receptive-expressive language disorder to the 2 speech diagnoses in the original Act which individual and group health plans will be required to cover.
