149th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 27

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE DELAWARE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING ON MAY 10, 1917.

WHEREAS , the members of the 149 ^th General Assembly of the State of Delaware wish to recognize and celebrate the 100 ^th Anniversary of the Delaware Department of Transportation (“DelDOT”); and

WHEREAS, DelDOT employees have been entrusted with the continuation of a century long effort started by T. Coleman DuPont to improve the mobility and quality of life for the citizens of Delaware; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Department of Transportation is to provide Excellence in Transportation; and

WHEREAS, DelDOT is responsible for the planning, designing, building, maintaining, and managing of the state’s transportation system; and

WHEREAS, DelDOT’s 3,300 dedicated employees strive to make every trip in Delaware safe, reliable, and convenient for people and commerce; seek the best value for every dollar spent; and engage customers with respect and courtesy as they deliver first class service; and

WHEREAS, the transportation network has vastly improved over the past 100 years with signature projects such as the expansion of Route 1, the Indian River Inlet Bridge, the improvements to I-95, the creation of the POW-MIA Parkway, US Route 301, and innovative new projects such as the state’s First Diverging Diamond Interchange; and

WHEREAS, DelDOT is the proud home of the Division of Motor Vehicles, which has seen its customer service levels increase over the years to become the best DMV in the Country; and

WHEREAS, DelDOT’s public transportation division, DART First State, has expanded public transportation services statewide and continues to provide innovative public transportation solutions; and

WHEREAS, DelDOT stands ready to use innovation and technology to continue to enhance the safety and functionality of the transportation network for our citizens and travelers for the next 100 years.

NOW, THEREFORE;

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 149 ^th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, that May 10, 2017, is recognized and designated as the 100 ^th Anniversary of the Delaware Department of Transportation and the employees of the Delaware Department of Transportation are congratulated on their continued success.
