HOUSE BILL NO. 69

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 26 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELAY SERVICE ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend § 221, Title 26 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§ 221. Telecommunications Relay Service Advisory Committee.

(b) The Telecommunications Relay Service Advisory Committee shall be is composed of the following 11 members:

(1) One member shall be a A public utility, authorized by the Commission to provide a statewide TRS utility; utility.

(2) One A person designated by the TRS utility, and shall be utility that is under contract with such utility to provide all or part of a statewide TRS; TRS.

(3) The 911 Administrator for the State; State, or a designee of the 911 Administrator for the State.

(4) One A representative from the Division of for the Visually Impaired; Impaired.

(5) One A representative from the Department of Technology and Information; Information.

(6) One representative from the Council on Deaf and Hard of Hearing Equality; A representative from the State Council for Persons with Disabilities.

(7) One representative from the Delaware Association of the Deaf; A representative from the Delaware Assistive Technology Initiative.

(8) One A representative from the Hearing Loss Association of Delaware; Delaware.

(9) One A representative from the Delaware Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Hearing.

(10) One A representative from the Delaware School for the Deaf; and Deaf.

(11) One A representative from Independent Resources, Inc.

SYNOPSIS

This Act updates the membership of the Telecommunications Relay Service Advisory Committee to include the groups currently engaged in ensuring telecommunications relay services are provided to Delawareans who need relay services.

This Act also makes technical corrections to conform existing law to the standards of the Delaware Legislative Drafting Manual and to the name of the Division for the Visually Impaired.
