150th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 28

RECOGNIZING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TALLEYVILLE GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE.

WHEREAS, the Talleyville Girls Softball League (“TGSL”) is an organization whose main objectives are to teach sportsmanship within the context of a competitive environment, to provide the opportunity to cultivate friendships, to improve and perfect softball skills, and to have fun; and

WHEREAS, TGSL was founded in 1969 by 3 mothers who recognized the need for an organized after-school program for girls who had the desire to play softball and now celebrates its 50th anniversary as being a program specifically for young girls; and

WHEREAS, TGSL has approximately 450 girls this season and 6,000 individual players since 1969; and

WHEREAS, by 1979, the league was sanctioned by the Amateur Softball Association (“ASA”), the first unified set of rules for softball that added to the stability of the sport; and

WHEREAS, TGSL provides opportunities for young girls to grow and become leaders in their communities and encourages them to be the best version of themselves.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 150 th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that we honor the Talleyville Girls Softball League for 50 years of service to their players.

This resolution recognizes the 50th anniversary of the Talleyville Girls Softball League.
