150th GENERAL ASSEMBLY
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 47
COMMENDING CAESAR RODNEY SCHOOL DISTRICT'S SUPERINTENDENT KEVIN FITZGERALD ON HIS ACHIEVEMENT OF BEING NAMED 2018 SUPERINDENDENT OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, every year the National Association of School Superintendents selects a superintendent that exemplifies their mission to facilitate positive learning outcomes for students and to effectively advocate for education; and
WHEREAS, Caesar Rodney School District’s Superintendent Kevin Fitzgerald was selected as the Superintendent of the year for 2018 for his commitment towards education and enriching the lives of students; and
WHEREAS, before serving as the Superintendent, Fitzgerald served as a social studies teacher for 13 years before moving into the role of assistant principal, and then the role of principal of the Caesar Rodney High; and
WHEREAS, the Association has remarked that Fitzgerald’s tenure has shown marked growth in technology, blended learning, and community and stakeholder outreach in his district; and
WHEREAS, Fitzgerald has shown tremendous leadership in his role and has always made advocating for students a priority; and
WHEREAS, Fitzgerald has overseen projects such as the addition of new classrooms at McIlvaine Early Childhood Center, the construction of a new elementary school, and the construction of a new ninth-grade academy; and
WHEREAS, under Fitzgerald’s leadership, students have the opportunity to learn from a menu of seven different world languages; and
WHEREAS, the Caesar Rodney School District currently has approximately 8,000 students in 12 schools, with one school serving as the county’s school for students with autism, and another school being located on the Dover Air Force Base; and
WHEREAS, Fitzgerald was honored with this award at the Association’s National Advocacy Conference on September 23-25, 2018 in Washington, D.C.;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 150th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that Kevin Fitzgerald is commended on his achievement of being selected as the National Association of School Superintendents’ 2018 Superintendent of the Year, and for his continued dedication to his students and faculty.

This Senate Concurrent Resolution recognizes Kevin Fitzgerald's achievement of being named 2018 Superintendent of the Year by the National Association of School Superintendents.
