SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 48

EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE NON-ACUTE PATIENT MEDICAL GUARDIANSHIP TASK FORCE.

WHEREAS, the Non-Acute Patient Medical Guardianship Task Force was established under SCR No. 30 of the 150 th General Assembly to study the needs and options of non-acute hospital patients in need of medical guardianship services, including funding, legal, regulatory, and policy changes that would allow for medical guardians to be immediately available when a non-acute patient is in need of guardianship in order to transition from an acute care setting to an appropriate location and level of care, and make recommendations based on the study; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force was directed to submit its findings and recommendations report to the General Assembly, the Governor, and the Director and the Librarian of the Division of Research of Legislative Council by June 1, 2020; and

WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the previously established meeting schedule of the Task Force; and

WHEREAS, House Bill No. 345 of the 150 th General Assembly extended the reporting deadline for several task forces and committees impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, extending the deadline for the Non-Acute Patient Medical Guardianship Task Force to June 1, 2021; and

WHEREAS, despite its best efforts throughout the continuing pandemic, the Task Force is not yet prepared to submit its report; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Task Force believe that they will be able to submit the report by August 1, 2021.

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 151 st General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the findings and recommendations report of the Non-Acute Patient Medical Guardianship Task Force is now extended to August 1, 2021.

SYNOPSIS

This Concurrent Resolution extends the reporting date of the Non-Acute Patient Medical Guardianship Task Force from June 1, 2021 to August 1, 2021.
