HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 6

TO

SENATE BILL NO. 15

AMEND Senate Bill No. 15, as amended, by inserting after line 12 the following:

“Section 2. Beginning on January 1 after the first year of a minimum wage increase under this Act and continuing until January 1 of the year after the final minimum wage increase under this Act, the Controller General shall annually cause to be prepared for the General Assembly a report on the economic impact of the minimum wage increase under this Act.

(1) The Controller General shall distribute a copy of the report to all members of the General Assembly, the Governor, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and the Director and Librarian of the Division of Research.

(2) The Controller General shall post each year’s report on the General Assembly’s website for a minimum of 5 years from the date of the report.

(3) The reports must include the effect of the minimum wage increases under this Act on the following:

a. Employment in this State.

b. The wages of workers in this State.

c. The distribution of family income in this State.

d. Real, inflation adjusted output in this State.

e. Prices of goods and services in this State.

f. The distribution of labor and capital income in this State.

(4) The reports must include the economic modeling approach adopted to analyze the effect of the minimum wage increase under this Act.”.

SYNOPSIS

This Amendment requires the Controller General to cause to be prepared for the General Assembly annual reports on the economic impact of the minimum wage increase under this Act.
