HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 33

RECOGNIZING CHILD TAX CREDIT AWARENESS DAY THE STATE OF DELAWARE.

WHEREAS, t he Child Tax credit was found in 1998 with a cap of $400; and

WHEREAS, the Child Tax credit was expanded in 1999, 2001, and 2010 to $500, $600, and $1000 respectively; and

WHEREAS, the Child Tax credit is estimated by the Congressional Budget Office to have lifted about 3 million children out of poverty since 2016; and

WHEREAS, the American Rescue Plan expanded the Child Tax Credit to a $250 to $300 monthly payment for each child; and

WHEREAS, this benefit will help lift millions more children and their families out of poverty; and

WHEREAS, it is important to let Delawarean families know about this $3,600 per year they are entitled to; and

WHEREAS, roughly 39 million households, covering 65 million children, will automatically receive the new child tax credit; and

WHEREAS, starting on July 15th and through the rest of the year payments will be monthly.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 151st General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the State of Delaware Recognizes June 21st, 2021 as Child Tax Credit Awareness Day.
