151st GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 24

RECOGNIZING JANUARY 22, 2022 AS ‘SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE DAY’ IN DELAWARE.

WHEREAS, among the many functions of government, one of the most important is to foster a climate of respect for every individual; and

WHEREAS, every individual has the right to an equal opportunity for success; and

WHEREAS, every individual in our great state has a right to live in a safe environment; and

WHEREAS, every individual is distinctly made, from the color of their eyes to their unique fingerprints; and

WHEREAS, every individual deserves the best care our society is able to offer; and

WHEREAS, our nation’s Declaration of Independence declares that our rights come from our Creator; and

WHEREAS, as elected officials we are called upon to set an example of respect for human life; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, ‘A just law is a man-made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law;’ and

WHEREAS, the 1973 Roe v Wade decision of the SCOTUS violates the ‘moral law’ by allowing the taking of lives of unborn children; and

WHEREAS, the protection of the ‘weakest members of society is our moral obligation’ as many members of the Senate have stated many times.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 151 ^st  General Assembly of the State of Delaware that the Senate proclaim January 22, 2022, as Sanctity of Human Life Day in Delaware as a demonstration of our commitment to honor our Creator by protecting the rights of every individual.
