HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 58

HONORING THE 2021-2022 UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE WOMEN’S AND MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAMS UPON BOTH TEAMS WINNING THE COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (CAA) CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the University of Delaware Women’s and Men’s Basketball Teams won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in March 2022; and

WHEREAS, for the first time in University of Delaware history, both the Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams will be heading to the NCAA tournament; and

WHEREAS, Delaware Women’s team will be returning to the tournament for the fifth time with their last appearance in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Women’s team had a 24-7 record and won their third Colonial Athletic Association Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Women’s team members include Tara Cousins, Tyi Skinner, Paris McBride, Tee Johnson, Lizzie O’Leary, Mia Yanogacio, Makayla Pippin, Jasmine Dickey, Mar Tejedor, Jadaia Reid, Aja Austin, Maddie Sims, Jewel Smalls, Ty Battle; and

WHEREAS, the team coaching staff includes Natasha Adair, Bob Clark, Darrell Mosley, Mykala Walker, Kiké Rafu, Carter Caplan; and

WHEREAS, Delaware Men’s team will be returning to the tournament for the sixth time with their last appearance in 2014; and

WHEREAS, the Men’s team had a 22-12 record and won their second Colonial Athletic Association Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Men’s team members include Ryan Allen, Gianmarco Arletti, Ebby Asamoah, Andrew Carr, Logan Curtis, Jyare Davis, Johnny McCoy, Jameer Nelson Jr., Aleks Novakovich, Anthony Ochefu, O.D. Ogunbo, Wes Peterson and Fred Rullo IV ; and

WHEREAS, the team coaching staff includes Martin Ingelsby, Bill Phillips and Corey McCrae; and

WHEREAS, 2021-2022 University of Delaware basketball teams won these accomplishments through hard work, dedication, and teamwork.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 151st General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the members extend the best wishes and warm congratulations to the team members, coaches, and staff of the 2021-2022 University of Delaware Women’s and Men’s Basketball Teams.

SYNOPSIS

This House Concurrent Resolution honors the 2021-2022 University of Delaware Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams winning the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships. It also marks the first time that both teams will be heading to the NCAA tournament in the same season.
