AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 19 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO DELAWARE’S WHISTLEBLOWERS PROTECTION ACT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend Chapter 17 of Title 19 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§1703. Protection.

An employer shall not discharge, threaten, or otherwise discriminate against an employee regarding the employee’s compensation, terms, conditions, location, or privileges of employment: employment, including reporting or threatening to report an employee’s suspected citizenship or immigration status or the suspected citizenship or immigration status of a family member of the employee to a federal, state, or local agency:

SYNOPSIS

This Act amends Delaware’s Whistleblower Protection Act to preclude an employer from reporting or threatening to report an employee’s citizenship or immigration status or a family members citizenship or immigration status to a federal, state, or local agency, in response to the employee engaging in a protected activity under Delaware’s Whistleblower Act.
