HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 54

URGING THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO EXPEDITE APPROVAL ON PERDUE FARM INCORPORATED'S ACQUISITION FROM CARGILL, INC. OF CARGILL'S NORFOLK, VIRGINIA SOYBEAN PROCESSING PLANT AND SEAFORD, DELAWARE GRAIN ELEVATOR.

WHEREAS, Delaware’s farmers would benefit from Perdue Farm Incorporated’s acquisition from Cargill, Inc. of Cargill’s Norfolk, Virginia soybean processing plant and Seaford, Delaware grain elevator; and

WHEREAS, the delay in approving Perdue Farm Incorporated’s acquisition from Cargill Inc. is affecting Delaware’s farmers by limiting where they can sell their product and preventing Perdue from purchasing the product because of the lack of a storage facility in Delaware.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitably prepared copy of this Resolution be provided to the United States Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, attention Roger W. Fones at 325 Seventh Street, N. W., Suite 500, Washington, DC 20530.
