HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
COMMEMORATING THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CENTRAL DELAWARE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
WHEREAS, the Dover Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1919, became the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce in 1981; and
WHEREAS, the Central Delaware Chamber is the second oldest Chamber in the State of Delaware and has been part of the Dover scene continuously since 1919; and
WHEREAS, the Central Delaware Chamber is one of the best-known organizations in the State and is a catalyst for many community, county, state and Air Force related programs every year, in addition to its regular Program of Work; and
WHEREAS, the Central Delaware Chamber has had an active history of boards of directors which have worked with city, county, state and federal governments on many projects; and
WHEREAS, the Central Delaware Chamber has adopted a strategic plan to address the important issues of education, military affairs, industry and business, transportation, recreational and cultural facilities, and drug awareness; and
WHEREAS, the Central Delaware Chamber conceived, planned, and organized the Association of Chambers of Commerce of Delaware, an organization that includes all 15 chambers in the State and meets regularly for the purpose of legislative monitoring, review, and projection; and
WHEREAS, on June 17th, 1999 the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual dinner and the members will celebrate its 80th anniversary;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 140th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, commemorates all of the achievements and the community support provided by the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce on this, its 80th anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitably prepared copy of this resolution be provided to the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce.
