HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 31 |
COMMENDING TANYA MARCINKEWICZ FOR BEING SELECTED DELAWARE'S STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR 2002 AND COMMENDING EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR. |
WHEREAS, nearly 7,500 teachers work each day with approximately 114,000 children who attend 185 Delaware public schools in 19 school districts; and
WHEREAS, teachers strive for excellence in their profession when they know that the community supports them and appreciates their efforts on behalf of our children; and
WHEREAS, the Teacher of the Year program identifies building and district representatives who embody the best qualities of all Delaware teachers; and
WHEREAS, the Delaware State Teacher of the Year is chosen for possessing a superior ability to inspire and nurture students with a love of learning and for having won the admiration and respect of students, fellow teachers, school administrators, and the parents of students; and
WHEREAS, Tanya Marcinkewicz of David W. Harlan Elementary School in the Brandywine School District has been named as Delaware State Teacher of the Year for 2002, as part of the National Teacher of the Year program—the oldest and most prestigious award program that focuses public attention on excellence in teaching; and
WHEREAS, each of the other eighteen school districts has chosen a 2002 District Teacher of the Year, namely:
Appoquinimink School District: Martha Hodgkins;
Caesar Rodney School District: Victoria Frazier;
Cape Henlopen School District: Nancy Carnevale;
Capital School District: Erika M. Caldwell;
Christina School District: Elly Schmalz;
Colonial School District: Jeffory Gibeault;
Delmar School District: Judy Hearn;
Indian River School District: Kathy Hudson;
Lake Forest School District: Debbie Pope;
Laurel School District: Kathy Lynch;
Milford School District: Sandra C. Baker;
New Castle County Vo-Tech School District: Pamela Lottero-Perdue;
Polytech School District: Carlton Norris;
Red Clay School District: Carol L. Hackett;
Seaford School District: Patricia Eskridge;
Smyrna School District: Beverly A. Beck;
Sussex Technical School District: Robyn N. Sturgeon;
Woodbridge School District: Joanne W. Jones.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 141st General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that commendations and appreciation are hereby extended to the State Teacher of the Year and to the District Teachers of the Year for 2002.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, upon passage of this Resolution, a suitably prepared copy be forwarded to Tanya Marcinkewicz, 2002 State Teacher of the Year, and to each 2002 District Teacher of the Year.
