HOUSE BILL NO. 304

 

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 14 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE STATE STUDENT TESTING PROGRAM.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

 


Section 1.  Amend §151(h), Title 14 of the Delaware Code by striking the phrase “kindergarten through 10” and by substituting in lieu thereof “2 through 10”.

Section 2.  Amend §151(h), Title 14 of the Delaware Code by adding a new sentence at the end of subsection (h) to read:  “For kindergarten and first grade, all school districts are required to follow the State standards, to assess the progress of students toward meeting those standards, and to report such progress to parents.”.


SYNOPSIS

This bill changes the grades where mandatory State testing is required from grades K-10 to grades 2-10.  School districts will have the responsibility to assess student progress in grades Kindergarten and 1 and to provide student progress reports to parents.
