142nd GENERAL ASSEMBLY

HOUSE BILL NO. 122

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 30 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE ANNUAL LICENSE FEE FOR TRAVEL AGENCIES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend §2301(a)(26), Title 30 of the Delaware Code by inserting "up to" immediately before "$225" and by adding the following sentence at the end of paragraph (26):

"The annual license fee is computed by assessing $75 per individual travel agent employed by the agency, up to a maximum of $225.".

SYNOPSIS

During this time of economic hardship, travel agencies have been forced to lay off employees. Many of these laid-off employees choose to re-establish their careers as sole owners of new travel agencies in a struggling industry. This bill gives sole practitioner agencies a break on the travel agency annual license fee by reducing their fee from $225 to $75. The fee is computed by assessing $75 per individual travel agent employed by the agency, up to a maximum of $225 per year for an agency with 3 or more employees.
