SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19

 

 

 HONORING THE DELAWARE TRANSIT CORPORATION'S GRAND CHAMPION AWARD WON AT THE 33rd ANNUAL AMERICAN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL BUS RODEO.

 


 


WHEREAS, the Delaware Transit Corporation, operating as DART First State, provides fixed route and demand response public transit services in each of Delaware’s three counties; and

WHEREAS, DART operators are recruited, tested and trained to perform their duties, emphasizing safety, courtesy, and excellence in customer service; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Transit Corporation conducts annual Bus Rodeos to competitively test the driving, safety and proficiency skills of its bus operators and maintenance personnel, and sends the winners of those competition to national events; and

WHEREAS, the American Public Transportation Association (“APTA“) held the 33rd International Bus Rodeo in Austin, Texas from May 3 to May 6, 2008, featuring competitors from 85 North American transportation systems; and

 WHEREAS, the Maintenance Team from Delaware Transit Corporation, Steven Vest, Frank Garbacz and Thomas Yonko, earned second place, and DART operator William Webb won first place in the Customer Service Challenge; and

 WHEREAS, overall, the Delaware Transit Corporation won the Grand Champion Award at the 33rd APTA International Bus Rodeo event:

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 144th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that the members do herby join in honoring the members of the Delaware Transit Corporation for their outstanding performance at the 33rd annual APTA International Bus Rodeo.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Senate Resolution be sent to the Delaware Transit Corporation upon its passage.


SYNOPSIS

This Senate Resolution honors the Delaware Transit Corporation for winning the grand champion award during the 33rd annual at the APTA International Bus Rodeo which was held from May 3 to May 6 in Austin Texas.
