SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14 |
RESPECTFULLY URGING THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF FORMER SENATOR STEVEN H. AMICK BY NAMING THE WALKING TRAIL AT THE NEWARK RESERVOIR IN HIS HONOR. |
WHEREAS, The Honorable Steven H. Amick represented the Newark area in the Delaware General Assembly for twenty-two years, as a member of the House of Representatives from 1986-1994 and as State Senator from 1994-2008; and
WHEREAS, in addition to serving with distinction as Senate Minority Leader, Joint Finance Committee member and Chair of several House and Joint Committees, Steve Amick has been a long-time advocate for the City of Newark through his legislative endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Steve Amick was a special friend when the time came to build a reservoir in the City of Newark, and he was able to convince the General Assembly to appropriate more than four million dollars that was necessary for the project to be accomplished; and
WHEREAS, throughout the building of the reservoir, Steve Amick was instrumental in working out many details of the construction and successful completion of the project; and
WHEREAS, the Senate wishes to see former Senator Steve Amick honored by the naming of a community asset in his honor, most appropriately in Newark; and
WHEREAS,
because of the many benefits the City of
NOW, THEREFORE:

IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 145th General Assembly of the State
of
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon its passage, a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Mayor and the City Council of Newark.
