HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 42 |
EXTENDING SINCERE THANKS TO THE CAREER AND TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OF DELAWARE FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE BEAUTIFUL GERANIUMS AND EXTENDING BEST WISHES FOR MUCH SUCCESS TO EACH OF THESE EXEMPLARY STUDENTS. |
WHEREAS, for many years it has been a tradition for the Delaware Career and Technical Student Organizations from throughout the State to present flowers (this year, geraniums grown by Caesar Rodney, Christiana, Milford, Smyrna and Woodbridge Agriscience students) to the members of the Delaware Legislature and other government officials in appreciation of their diligent efforts to improve educational opportunities and encourage students to pursue a quality education in a field of their choice; and
WHEREAS, the Delaware Career and Technical Student Organizations consist of the Business Professionals of America, Lisa Stoner-Torbert, State Advisor; Delaware DECA and Delaware Technology Student Association, Frank Ingram, State Advisor; The Future Farmers of America Organizations, Dr. Karen Hutchison, State Advisor; Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Rita Hovermale, State Advisor; Skills USA, Dr. Dale Derrickson, State Advisor; and
WHEREAS, the 2010 enrollment data statewide for all the above national clubs breaks down as follows:
Agriculture 6,000 (FFA)
Business and Finance 20,000 (BPA)
Family and Consumer Science 15,000 (FCCLA)
Marketing Education 1,500 (DECA)
Technology Education 15,300 (TSA)
Trade/Industry
Education 7,000 (Skills
for a total of 64,800 which also includes 4,000 students who are enrolled in health occupations; and
WHEREAS, our advice to each student in these organizations is to take the maximum advantage of the many opportunities available to you by studying hard, learning all there is to know within your chosen fields, encouraging others by leading an exemplary life, becoming role models for future membership into your organizations and living a healthy, productive, and successful life; and
WHEREAS, on the
basis of your exemplary articulation and must appreciated appearance here today
we can say, unequivocally, that each of you and your thousands of colleagues
are certainly headed on the proper path toward becoming the State of
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 145th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that our sincere thanks and best wishes are hereby extended to the Delaware Career and Technical Student Organizations under the leadership of Dr. Michael R. Owens, Ed. D., Associate Secretary, College & Workforce Readiness and Amelia E. Hodges, Ed. D., Director, Career, Technical & Title I Resources.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon passage of this Resolution a duly authenticated copy be forwarded to each State Advisor to be shared with the Career and Technical Student Organizations throughout the State.
