SENATE BILL NO. 34

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO THE STATE EMPLOYEE BENEFIT COMMITTEE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend Section 9602 (a), Title 29 of the Delaware Code by inserting after the phrase “designees.” the following: “In addition, the Governor shall appoint two of the following persons: The President of the Delaware State Education Association or his/her designee, the Executive Director of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees or his/her designee, the President of the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware or his/her designee, or the President of the Delaware State Troopers Association or his/her designee. The appointment terms shall be for three years, and no organizational representative shall be appointed to more than two consecutive terms.”

SYNOPSIS

This legislation expands the composition of the State Employee Benefits Committee and provides Delaware public employees with representation on the Committee.
