DESCRIPTION: AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO STATE GOVERNMENT AND CREATING A WORK A DAY EARN A PAY PUBLIC WORKS JOBS PROGRAM.

ASSUMPTIONS:

1. This Bill shall become effective upon signing of the Governor.

2. This Bill creates a Work a Day, Earn a Pay public works program. The program provides temporary, entry-level employment in areas such as public works projects, litter control, river, stream and park cleanup projects, and housing renovation and improvement projects, aimed at unemployed, at-risk, and disadvantaged individuals with barriers to employment opportunities.

3. Up to $2 million in annual funding for the Program will be provided by the State Strategic Fund and administered by the Delaware Economic Development Office’s Council on Development Finance through grant awards.

Cost:

Fiscal Year 2016 $ Up to 2 million (Strategic Fund)

Fiscal Year 2017 $ Up to 2 million (Strategic Fund)

Fiscal Year 2018 $ Up to 2 million (Strategic Fund)
