| Long Title: | AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 237, VOLUME 51, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO REINCORPORATE THE TOWN OF BRIDGEVILLE" RELATING TO BANKING, VOTER ELIGIBILITY, THE POWER TO RAISE REVENUE AND THE TEN YEARS EXEMPTION FOR PLANTS AND BUSINESSES BROUGHT WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TOWN BY REASON OF FUTURE EXTENSIONS OF THE TOWN'S BOUNDARIES AND RELATING TO THE ALDERMAN. |
| Synopsis: | The proposed amendment to the Town Charter authorizes the Commissioners to designate and the Town’s Finance Director to deposit the Town’s funds in banking institutions located within Sussex County, and establishes a 30 day residency for voting in Town elections. The Bill repeals that portion of Section 27 of the Town Charter that provided an exemption from taxation by the Town of business establishments employing ten (10) or more employees brought within the boundaries of the Town by virtue of extensions of the boundaries (annexations). The exemption was for a period of ten (10) years. The Bill also abolishes the Alderman’s Court for the Town of Bridgeville.
