144th General Assembly
Senate Bill # 221 w/SA 1

Primary Sponsor: Adams Additional Sponsor(s):    Rep. Wagner
CoSponsors: { NONE...}
Introduced on : 03/20/2008
Long Title:AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 21 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO NONPAYMENT OF JUDGEMENTS INVOLVING MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY.
Synopsis:Currently, a court issuing a civil judgment is required to report the existence of that judgment to the Secretary of Transportation within 60 days of the issuance of that judgment, so that the Secretary may suspend the license of the person against whom the judgment was rendered. The law is unclear as to whether this requirement is meant to apply to all civil judgments or only to those judgments rendered in a case involving motor vehicle safety. This Act will place the burden of having the judgment reported on the holder of the judgment rather than the court and provide a definition of the types of case judgments to which the section shall apply.
